Welcome to Mr. Nielsen's Class
Welcome to Sports Medicine! I am very happy that you decided to take the necessary steps to further your medical career.
Sports medicine students learn how to prevent, recognize, manage and provide rehab as a result of injuries related from physical activity. First year students will use learned skills in a laboratory environment where they will practice first aid for athletic injuries, knowledge of the human body and its functions, procedures used in common athletic injuries, and information on diets for athletes.
Second year students will expound on this knowledge and explore medicine and physical therapy, exercise science and implementation of sports medicine.
The student organization for this class is HOSA. Students gain leadership skills and learn more about options in the medical field.
All grades will be posted on Jupiter Grades.
I was born and raised in the great state of Idaho. I went to Marsh Valley High School. After High School I attended the Brigham Young University- Idaho. While at BYU-Idaho I received a bachelor degree in Exercise Physiology. After I received my bachelors degree, I went to Weber State University and got my Masters degree in Athletic Training. The first 2 years of my professional life was spent at San Luis High School in the Yuma area where I taught sports medicine, I was the HOSA adviser, and the Athletic Trainer. This is my 1st year at Combs and I am excited to get started. Go Coyotes!
I am married to my beautiful wife Tami. We both are from the same area in Idaho. We have 2 kids who love to run around and be outdoors. I enjoy watching and playing sports. I enjoy hiking, biking, and eating out (Barros pizza is the best. Change my mind). Family is the most important thing to me and I am excited to be part of the Combs family.
