Hey Everyone! Here's what you need to know about me...
I love to dance, but more so, I love to create and I love to teach! My greatest enjoyment comes from helping others succeed in meeting their goals, whether that is students, peers, or family. When I'm not at school, I'm hanging out with friends and family taking part in all of the fun the outdoors brings: paddle boarding, bike riding, working out, hiking, and enjoying the beauty that is the AZ desert (but... I could go with a smidge less heat... I'm an AZ native, but 117 degrees is still hot! 80 would be nice...). I'm a mom of little boys, so I also take part in many activities related to watching Disney movies, jumping on the trampoline, playing in dirt, building with legos and hot wheels ramps, and swimming. My days are busy and my nights are, too, but I wouldn't change it for the world. ❤
At Combs High School, we encourage our students to explore creativity and analysis, through instilling a love of learning in each student, and providing a high level of professional instruction and opportunities for growth for every child.
All students have the ability to learn and succeed, but may need guidance to discover their interests and best modes of learning. As I teach, I provide varying learning experiences to keep the students interested in learning, but also provide structure so students know their expectations and don't become overwhelmed. I believe it is not only classroom-based skills that students need to learn, but also skills that will help build the character of the students all around. Students will take ownership in their learning if they are interested in the process and the content, but also if they enjoy the experience in their classroom.
In my classes, we work toward building community in the classroom and out. We teach responsibility, respect, kindness, and cooperation.
I have been a high school teacher for 15 years, after graduating from ASU, but have taught in dance studios around the East Valley since I was 18. After a few years of teaching, I was ready to get back to the classroom again, and graduated with my Masters in Ed from the University of Phoenix. That experience reminded me how much I love to learn, and I strive to continue learning the best ways to meet the needs of my students every day. I enjoy sharing my love of learning with all students, and helping students to learn life-long skills, such as dedication, teamwork, compassion, and responsibility, which are important in all areas of life. I have been an active member of the Arizona Dance Education Organization for the past 14 years, and am currently the AzDEO President.
