Welcome to Mr. Robbins Home Math Page

Welcome to J.O. Combs High School for the 2021-2022 school year. My name is Charlie Robbins. I will be your math teacher for Advanced Algebra & Trigonometry (AAT), Honors Pre-Calculus (HPC) and AP Calculus AB for this school year. I have an energetic personality and you can expect to have an exciting time in class all year long.  Let’s plan on sharing things and getting to know each other. We will take on the amazing adventures learning math this year.

I am looking forward to learning things about you, but for now here are some things to know about me. I have three kids all in college, two at ASU and one hooper at Phoenix College . I am entering my 34th year in teaching, 28th in AZ. I have taught at the middle school, junior high, high school and college level. All mathematics from basic math to Calculus BC. I am an AP and Dual Enrollment certified instructor. I have degrees from U.C.S.B., C.S.U.N. and U.o.P. I teach full-time for COMBS High School and am an adjunct mathematics instructor for Maricopa Community Colleges and Rio Salado. – At the colleges I teach all courses from MAT082 to MAT240. Currently I am teaching on-line MAT212 Brief Calculus.

I have many different interests. Just to be different and have some fun I am going to describe myself with random words and phrases.

I have instructed at all levels, with all types of learners and what I have found is that anyone can learn if they try. This along with support from their teacher and self-efficacy is the recipe for success. Commitment + Focus + Discipline = Success. As the year progresses you will become more comfortable identifying your learning styles, navigating different scenarios, and learning about the dynamics of being an educated person and lifelong learner. You will learn to utilize the class resources such as, classmates, Apps, AP Board, Delta Math and more. Learn the importance of asking for assistance if you have tried and not succeeded in your task.

I look forward to helping you become self-reliant and a selfless learner.
